Many patients considering implants or full-arch (All-on-X) treatment want more than a numb mouth — some feel anxious about dental visits, some have a strong gag reflex, some are having several implants placed in one sitting, and some would simply rather not be aware of the procedure at all. Whatever the reason, we have a sedation option built for it.
General anesthesia is a different level of care than in-office sedation administered by the treating dentist, which is why we partner with board-certified anesthesiologists to administer it. An anesthesiologist's sole focus during your procedure is your anesthesia and your vitals — continuously monitoring your heart rate, breathing, blood pressure, and oxygen levels — while Dr. Duke focuses entirely on your implants. It's a second set of expert eyes dedicated only to your safety and comfort.
Before treatment, you'll review your health history with our team to determine which sedation options are appropriate for you. If general anesthesia is recommended, the anesthesiologist will go over your medical history and answer your questions directly. On the day of your procedure, you'll be monitored throughout by the anesthesiologist while Dr. Duke completes your implant or All-on-X treatment — and you'll need a driver to take you home afterward, since you won't be clear to drive yourself.
